Thank you to all our top fundraising restaurants around the country - StreetSmart is a huge team effort. The efforts of these restaurants, their staff and the generosity of their diners have played a vital role in StreetSmarts success in making 2010 a record year.
We applaud our restaurant partners who go way beyond the call of duty and put their heart and soul into their efforts to help us raise funds for grassroots projects.
2010-11 National Champions
Lowenbrau Keller - Sydney
Lowenbrau Keller – Sydney are crowned our 2010-11 top dogs - raising a staggering $15,337 in the 6 weeks - showing the power of a great committed team, generous customers and loads of micro donations of $2. Awesome job everyone!
The NSW/ACT top fundraisers were the team at the Löwenbräu Keller with Café Sydney coming a very close 2nd with $12,907 a magnificent effort which would have been a record in its own right any other year.
In Victoria Richmond Hill Café and Larder came first with $10,778 Maze by Gordon Ramsay in 2nd with $7264 – both new to StreetSmart this year.
In Queensland Mecca Bah Brisbane – last years National Champs- maintained their top spot raising $10,495, in second came Ahmets South Bank raising $7,465.
Our ACT Champs this year are Parlour Wine Room and SA Champs are Windy Point Restaurant
Our Small Big Award goes to Birdman Eating and the Duchess of Spotswood - both achieved big results for the size (no. of seats) of their venue.
StreetSmart is a fantastic team effort by all our restaurants and their staff who have proven that by everyone chipping in a little bit we can all have a real impact for people experiencing homelessness. THANKS EVERYONE.
"Initially the team at Mecca Bah had concerns about how to run the StreetSmart campaign. Once we understood how a small donation of $2 per table over the 6 week period in the run up to Christmas could change the lives of homeless people in the local community, we got right behind it and raised over $35,000 in the past 4 years. It is really nice being able to contribute to helping people in the neighbourhood break the cycle of poverty. All of us including the patrons at Mecca Bah really love being part of the StreetSmart fundraiser each year."
