Living in your car, on the street or in a makeshift camp site is dangerous and difficult. But it’s even more of a challenge through winter. Where do you find a safe place to sleep? Can you even sleep? Where do you go to the toilet, or shower? Where’s your next meal coming from? How do you charge a phone? How do you look after your health? It’s cold, it’s damp. That’s why our Winter Appeal is aimed at providing practical care for people experiencing homelessness.

Choose how you bring about change this winter…
We are asking our community to choose how they make a difference by helping us provide Warm and safe housing, Warm and nutritious meals, and Warm clothing and material aid. These are three areas of immediate need that we know need extra funding. These services are life saving and need our collective support.

This winter we are helping people like Stan survive the colder, damp weather.
Stan has been sleeping rough for the past year in the CBD. Sudden unemployment left him facing homelessness and after a short while at various unsafe boarding houses was forced to sleep in sheltered corners of the CBD. Now heading into winter he needs a swag and medical support to keep dry, warm and healthy.
“The demand is at a level never seen before. We are continually inundated with clients needing housing assistance, including both rough sleepers and those at high risk of homelessness.”
