DineSmart has now officially concluded, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to every venue, chef, staff member and diner who took part over the campaign’s long and impactful history. While the campaign has wrapped up, you can still chip in online for one final time to help extend DineSmart’s impact and support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

A Celebration of Hospitality and Impact
In 2003, StreetSmart’s founder Adam Robinson brought together a few key restaurateurs to start a campaign that would change the face of community fundraising. What if every diner could add $2 to their bill to help people doing it tough?
That simple concept became DineSmart, a grassroots movement that brought the hospitality industry together to make a difference by funding various responses to homelessness from emergency accommodation and food relief to housing support, youth programs and family services.
Our Impact
For more than 23 years, restaurants, cafes and diners across Australia came together each December to turn dining out into meaningful support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Thanks to the generosity of the hospitality community and the millions of $2 donations over the years, DineSmart has:
- raised over $4.4 million
- engaged over 1,000 restaurants, cafes and hospitality groups
- distributed 1,151 community grants
