StreetSmart News

In 2008 StreetSmart launched on the Gold Coast with the support of Mayor Ron Clarke.

Gertrude Street in Fitzroy Melbourne may possibly be a contender as the most StreetSmart street in Australia.   Birdman Eating, Ladro, Anada and the Builders Arms – all within 100 yards of each other - are all involved this year.

Some great new community partnerships are strengthening the StreetSmart campaign and creating a buzz around the up coming 2008 Restaurant Campaign.

StreetSmart Ambassadors are encouraging restaurants of all sizes to get involved in the 2008 campaign to make it the biggest and best.

During the months of August and September 2008 we are asking all guests at participating hotels to add a $2, or more, donation for StreetSmart onto their room bill.

The staff and customers at Mecca Bah, Brisbane; Il Solito Posto, Melbourne; and Longrain, Sydney are our top dogs for 2007.

What a fantastic result!

You’ve helped to raise $224,000+ during our restaurant campaign in Nov – Dec ’07, that’s a huge effort by our participating restaurants and their diners and all our supporters. This is an increase of 95% on 2006!

With the tally in for the 2007 campaign, our grants committees in each state have finalised this year's grants. We established a Grant Advisory Committee in each of the states which StreetSmart operates. This committee decides where the funds we raise will go. This year we have supported 55 organisations, with a total of 123 to date.

All the 2007 proceeds are out in the community helping improve peoples lives. We have heard back from many recipient organisations and here are just a few of the thank you notes we have received.

We are well into the ’07 campaign.

185 great restaurants are participating so gather your friends, family or work colleagues together and book a table, dine out and help out — it’s that easy.
